Global Mission Consultation 2025, opens in Bethany Hotel-Karongi, Rwanda Under the Theme: “Let Your Light Shine”

Karongi, Rwanda, on 27 November 2025, an international conference titled “Global Mission Consultation” is taking place at Bethany Hotel–Karongi, under the theme: “Let Your Light Shine (Matthew 5:16): Witnessing to Radical Hope in Catastrophic Times.” The conference will last four days and will conclude on 30 November 2025.

This consultation was organized and is hosted by the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR), in collaboration with the international mission bodies to which the Church belongs namely United Evangelical Mission (UEM) and Communauté d’Eglises en Mission (CEVAA) as well as the Council for World Mission (CWM), a new global partner with which the Church has recently begun cooperation.

Participants have come from over 36 countries across all continents, and the conference was officially opened by the Deputy CEO of the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), Dr. Félicien Usengumukiza.

In his opening remarks and words of welcome, the President of EPR thanked the leaders of these mission bodies for choosing Rwanda as the host country and for entrusting EPR with this responsibility. He emphasized that the presentations and discussions to be carried out during the consultation will contribute significantly to addressing the pressing global challenges of our time, and that the meeting would serve as an important moment to unite efforts in strengthening God’s mission.

He added that it would also be a time to reflect on how the Church is fulfilling its mission mandate and to set strategic directions that will help ensure these mission objectives are effectively achieved. This, he said, will strengthen the Church’s role as a light shining in the world exactly as expressed in the theme of the consultation and affirmed that even in difficult global circumstances, the Church is called to remain a beacon of hope.

In his address to the participants, he also expressed gratitude for the strong partnership between EPR and the Government of Rwanda, highlighting the tangible and transformative initiatives improving the lives of Rwandans across all sectors. He further appreciated the excellent cooperation EPR enjoys with other churches in Rwanda, across Africa, around the world, and with international ecumenical organizations. He affirmed that such partnerships reflect the high level of efficiency and collaboration that characterizes EPR’s mission.
