Short Presentation of Gisenyi Presbytery

The Gisenyi Presbytery of Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR Gisenyi Presbytery) has been instituted and established by the decision of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR) in its 46 th ordinary session held in Kigali from 10 to 14 March 2014 and has its juridical personality. The Gisenyi Presbytery is composed by the reunion of the parishes and sub-parishes from the ex-Regions of Gisenyi, Ramba and Ruhengeri. 

Today, the Gisenyi Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda is the union of 14 parishes and 8 sub-parishes. The parishes are namely: Buganamana, Bushaka, Gacuba, Kigarama,Kalisimbi,  Karambo, Kayove, Kinanira, Mutake, Mukingo, Ruhengeri and Nyabirasi. Also, the sub-parishes are: Nganzo, Rubavu, Bigogwe, Nkuri, Rugarama, Gahondogo, Kidaho and Nyarutovu.

The Gisenyi Presbytery monitors the functioning of parishes and sub-parishes in its jurisdiction, coordinates their activities and represents them legally. The head office of the Presbytery is located in Gikarani village, Nengo cell, Gisenyi sector, Rubavu district and Western Province. At the present time, the area of activities of Gisenyi Presbytery is extended in 7 administrative districts namely: Rubavu, Nyabihu, Rutsiro and Ngororero in Western Province; and Musanze, Burera and Gakenke in Northern Province. This area can be expanded.
