The church continues to make efforts to increase the skills of its accountants. Shortly after completing the training on the latest software currently used in accounting, on 16 and 17 November 2023, the Accountants were upgraded to the latest software in Financial Management.
he seminars were attended by the accountants of the EPR Head Office, those working in the institutions of the Church and those working in the 7 presbyteries of the Church: Kigali, Remera, Zinga, Gitarama, Kirinda, Gisenyi and Rubengera.
Presbyterian Church in Rwanda, Kiyovu parish celebrated 11 years of anniversary of grassroots communities. They started in 2013 with the books of teachings given once a week, the discussions and information given at this time have an important role in changing family members and their places of residence, and are intended for all church members.
The testimony of church members showed that the grassroots community plays a big role, and the positive impact. They said that in this meeting, alongside the word of God, it is also the time for the exchange of ideas within the framework of the development of the Church and of themselves and this increases unity and love between them.
It was a happy day for the members of Kiyovu Parish; The Vice-President and Legal Representative of EPR, Rev. Julie Kandema came to join them and the presidents of the grassroots communities received the certificates of appreciation.
Groupe Scolaire Mbuye, in Nyanza district, is among the school of EPR Gitarama presbytery, Mututu parish. On January 18, 2023, This school inaugurated the 6 classrooms, which were built in collaboration with the partner Rhineland-Palatinate. The group of partners came to join the school, during this ceremony and the speeches of all the participants contained the message of thanks for the good deed done.
EPR accountants were trained for 3 days in financial reporting, budget preparation and the Excel Spreadsheet program.
All the accountants of the presbyteries and those of the EPR headquarter participated and appreciated this opportunity which will make them progress in their services.
Institut Presbyterien de Kirinda (IPK) is a Non-Government school founded by the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda in 1981. The school is conceptualized as a contribution of the Church to the welfare of society as it was founded in a period where access to secondary education was an issue in Rwanda. Therefore, the school opened up opportunities for young people coming from Church members’ families and others to enjoy their rights to education. The school is located in the rural area of Kirinda, the place where the first protestant German missionaries settled in Rwanda back in 1907. Since its foundation, a big number of people graduated from it and they are now serving society in different fields including accounting, bank services, teaching, construction, ICT, Church service and others. Recently the school has taken a professional orientation to align its mission with the requirements of the current changing environment. Students are trained in fields of Accounting, Building construction and ICT efforts are made to meet the school vision which reads “Balanced quality education for excellence in a global society”. Being a private, the functioning of the school relies on the partnership with students’ parents,
Church-owner of it and a good partnership with JMFA (Junge Menshen Für Afrika) – a German- based association which has a good collaboration with the school since 2003. It is in the
framework of this partnership that a big project of “Rara Heza” is underway since a couple of years. The project aims to build a new complex story building that will serve as a girls’ dormitory.
